Warning: The following contains spoilers for Secret Invasion Episode 2, "Promises," now streaming on Disney+.

In a stunning turn of events, Secret Invasion's most recent installment confirms that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has tied the knot within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At the conclusion of "Promises," the second episode of the limited series streaming on Disney+, a captivating development unfolds involving Nick Fury. As he enters a dwelling, occupied by a solitary individual, an intriguing transformation takes place. The female Skrull, upon hearing Fury's arrival, assumes the appearance of a middle-aged black woman. Engaging in a conversation, the woman questions Fury about any potential oversight on his part. To the surprise of viewers, the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director proceeds to don a wedding band, suggesting that he and the woman are married. The episode concludes with a passionate embrace between them, segueing into the credits.

Charlayne Woodard portrays Fury's wife, Priscilla, in "Promises." Woodard is widely recognized for her notable recurring roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Chicago Hope, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Mayfair Witches. Priscilla was initially mentioned by Fury in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier during a conversation with Steve Rogers. At that time, fans remained uncertain about the authenticity of Fury's wife, as he used her as an explanation for his need to stay at Steve's apartment, considering it was bugged by Hydra, preventing them from suspecting any ulterior motives for his visit.

Does Priscilla Fury Have a Comic Book Counterpart?

Since his debut in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (1963), Nick Fury has engaged in various romantic relationships within the pages of Marvel Comics. These include S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the MCU), weapons smuggler Amber D'Alexis, and CIA operative Nia Jones. In the Ultimate Universe, Fury even had an ex-wife named Monica Chang. However, it's worth noting that none of his love interests in the comics were named Priscilla or had the Skrull identity, indicating that there is no direct comic book counterpart for the wife of the MCU's Nick Fury.

The Disney+ series Secret Invasion draws inspiration from the beloved 2008 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name. It follows the journey of Nick Fury as he unravels a clandestine invasion of Earth orchestrated by a radicalized faction of Skrulls, the shapeshifting green-skinned extraterrestrials introduced in the MCU's Captain Marvel (2019). Leading this rebellious Skrull group is Gravik, portrayed by Kingsley Ben-Adir. The show also features an ensemble cast, including Don Cheadle as Colonel James Rhodes, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Emilia Clarke as Talos' daughter G'iah, and Olivia Colman as MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth, among others.

The first two episodes of Secret Invasion are currently available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
