Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Receives Season 2 Greenlight for 2024



Great news for fans of Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles! The production team has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated second season will be hitting the screens in 2024. This exciting announcement was made through the anime's official Twitter account, generating buzz and anticipation among viewers.

To add to the excitement, a mini web anime video featuring Celia Claire has been released, giving fans a taste of what's to come in the upcoming season. With the official confirmation and sneak peek, fans are counting down the days until they can dive back into the fantastical world of Seirei Gensouki.

For those who might have missed out on the first season, fear not! The anime's initial 12-episode season aired in Japan from July 5, 2021, to September 21, 2021. Crunchyroll made sure fans worldwide could enjoy the anime as it aired in Japan by streaming it on their platform.







The much-anticipated second season of Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles boasts an impressive voice cast, with talented actors lending their voices to beloved characters. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka takes on the role of Rio/Haruto Amakawa, while Akane Fujita voices Celia Claire. Yuuki Kuwahara brings Aishia to life, and Tomori Kusunoki portrays Latifa. Sayaka Harada embodies Miharu Ayase, Sayumi Suzushiro voices Christina Beltrum, and Kaede Hondo lends her talent to Flora Beltrum. Other notable cast members include Sayaka Kaneko as Roanna Fontaine, Kenji Hamada as Alfred Emerle, Atsushi Tamaru as Charles Arbor, Kouji Yusa as Reiss Vulfe, Nao Tōyama as Liselotte Cretia, Hiyori Nitta as Sara, Yukina Shutou as Orphia, and Asuka Nishi as Alma.

The second season's direction will be in the capable hands of Osamu Yamasaki, who also directed the first season and is known for his work on ItaKiss. Returning as the character designer is Kyoko Yufu, who contributed to DARLING in the FRANXX. For the first season, Yamasaki served as the series screenwriter alongside a talented team including Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend), Megumu Sasano (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo), and Yoshiko Nakamura (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-).

The first season showcased an exceptional team of staff members, and many of them will be returning for the second season. Takehiko Segawa, known for Arte, takes on the role of art director, while Tomoko Kohioki serves as the color key artist, with Norimasa Teramoto as director of photography. Keisuke Yanagi handles the editing, Hiroto Morishita serves as sound director, and Yasuyuki Yamazaki composes the captivating music, as he did for Lord Marksman and Vanadis. Animation production for the series is skillfully managed by TMS Entertainment.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles originates from a captivating light novel series written by Yuuri Kitayama, accompanied by the mesmerizing illustrations of Riv. The story began its journey as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou, captivating readers from February 12, 2014, until October 30, 2020. With its immense popularity, Hobby Japan later published the light novels on October 1, 2015, and the series has since grown to encompass an impressive 23 volumes as of February 2023.

The charm of Seirei Gensouki extends beyond its light novel origins, as it has also inspired a compelling manga adaptation illustrated by Futago Minaduki. This manga adaptation marks the second overall for the series and commenced its publication in 2017. Since then, it has flourished with nine tankoubon volumes released as of February 2023.

J-Novel Club releases English versions of Seirei Gensouki light novels and manga, J-Novel describes the plot as follows: Meet Rio: a callous orphaned boy living in the slums. At only 7-years-old, he realizes he’s actually the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past. While still reeling from this shocking epiphany, Rio also comes to learn that he possesses extremely potent magical abilities and uses his new powers to solve the kidnapping case of a little girl. His good deed is acknowledged, and he’s rewarded by being enrolled into… a prestigious academy for noble children…?
