The anime is an adaptation of the popular isekai light novel series written by Nazuna Miki and beautifully illustrated by Subachi. The story originated as a web novel, debuting on Shousetsuka ni Narou on February 24, 2017, and concluded its serialization on April 19, 2020, garnering top positions in the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly rankings.

Kodansha took the novel to the next level by publishing the light novel version on August 31, 2017. Since then, the series has seen the release of eight volumes as of August 2023, captivating readers under the K Ranobe Books label. Additionally, the success of the story led to a manga adaptation by Mawata in 2018, adding to the growing popularity of the franchise. Kodansha USA has been responsible for bringing both the light novels and manga to English-speaking audiences, ensuring a wider reach for this enthralling tale.
