Justified: City Primeval Videos Introduce the FX Series’ New and Returning Characters

FX's highly anticipated American Western drama, Justified: City Primeval, is just two weeks away from its premiere.

To generate excitement among fans, the official JustifiedFX Twitter account has shared a series of tweets featuring new cast videos. These videos not only introduce new characters but also welcome back the beloved Timothy Olyphant as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. Set 15 years after the original series, City Primeval finds Givens relocated to Detroit, where he continues to uphold his gritty sense of justice. With these tweets, FX has stirred up anticipation by unveiling the return of its iconic protagonist and the thrilling additions to the cast of this neo-Western drama.

Justified: City Primeval serves as a thrilling sequel to the original FX series Justified, where Timothy Olyphant reprises his iconic role as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. Both shows revolve around Givens, a lawman with a strong inclination towards old-school Western justice. In the original series, Givens' unique brand of 19th-century-style justice lands him a reassignment to his hometown of Harlan County, Kentucky, a place he never expected to return to. Having grown up in rural Kentucky with an outlaw father, Givens consciously distances himself from his roots. The original series garnered immense praise from fans and critics alike, heightening the anticipation for the upcoming debut of Justified: City Primeval.

Justified boasted an exceptional supporting cast that contributed significantly to the show's success, solidifying its status as one of the most memorable television series of the past decade. Characters like Givens' father, Arlo (portrayed by Raymond J. Barry), his ex-wife Winona Hawkins (played by Natalie Zea), and Boyd Crowder, a local career criminal (played by Walton Goggins), brought depth and vitality to the narrative. While Olyphant is the sole returning cast member in the new FX series, his real-life daughter, Willa Olyphant, joins the show to portray his on-screen daughter, Willa Givens, a character from the 2010-2015 drama.

The teasers and cast videos shared by FX on Twitter offer glimpses of the fresh faces and perilous situations that Givens will encounter in Detroit. Boyd Holbrook, renowned for his role as DEA Agent Steve Murphy in the hit Netflix series Narcos, takes on the role of Clement Mansel, the primary antagonist. Holbrook has also portrayed The Corinthian in The Sandman and Donald Pierce in 2017's Logan. His character, Clement, also known as The Oklahoma Wildman, is an unhinged and violent sociopath who consistently outsmarts the Detroit Police Department.

Joining the cast are Aunjanue Ellis as Carolyn Wilder, Clement's partner in crime, and Adelaide Clemens as Sandy, Clement's girlfriend. The supporting cast features Marin Ireland, Victor Williams, and Norbert Leo Butz, who portray members of the Detroit PD.

Justified: City Primeval is set to premiere on FX on July 18th, delivering another dose of riveting storytelling.
