Pedro Pascal Nabs 3 First-Time Emmy Nods at Once

Pedro Pascal has secured three Emmy nominations this year for his outstanding performances in various shows.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the star of The Mandalorian has been recognized with three Emmy nods for his roles across different productions. This marks the first time Pascal has received Emmy recognition, which is noteworthy considering his extensive television career. One of his nominations is for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, specifically for his portrayal of Joel Miller in HBO's The Last of Us. His co-star, Bella Ramsey, has also received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Pascal's exceptional work extends beyond drama, as he has also earned a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. This recognition is for his guest host performance on Saturday Night Live, specifically on the February 4th episode. Notably, Pascal is the sole SNL host to be acknowledged this year, as previous Emmy contenders in this category typically include SNL regulars or guest appearances. In addition to his drama and comedy nominations, Pascal has also been nominated for his narration in a documentary series. His offscreen narration for CNN's Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World puts him in competition with notable nominees such as Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Morgan Freeman, and Barack Obama.

The Rise of Pedro Pascal

Pascal's Emmy nominations for his role in The Last of Us shed light on his previous remarks about the show. The actor mentioned that although the audition process for the character of Joel Miller was not overly challenging, it required a deep understanding of the scripts. Upon reading the first two episodes, Pascal recognized the undeniable appeal and complexity of the role once Joel meets Ellie. The project quickly became a priority for him, reshaping his plans for the next couple of years due to its exceptional nature.

In addition to his recent television endeavors, the acclaimed star of The Mandalorian confirmed his involvement in the upcoming horror drama film Weapons. Pascal has landed the lead role in this interrelated multistory horror epic, which represents a departure from his recent performances in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. Pascal's versatility as an actor has been evident in his past work, including notable appearances in films like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Wonder Woman 1984, The Equalizer 2, and Triple Frontier.

Fans can look forward to seeing Pascal reprise his role as Joel Miller in Season 2 of The Last of Us, which is currently slated for release in 2025.
