Reservation Dogs Will End With Season 3

Reservation Dogs co-creator Sterlin Harjo has recently announced that the highly acclaimed FX on Hulu series will be concluding with its upcoming third season.

In an Instagram post, co-creator Sterlin Harjo shared the news, saying, "Greetings, young and old warriors! I want to share with you all that the upcoming third season of Reservation Dogs will mark the end of our beloved show." Harjo expressed the difficulty in making this decision, stating, "It's a challenging line to write and an even more challenging decision to make. However, it is the right decision for the show creatively." He also mentioned that he had always known how the story would conclude but was unsure when that conclusion would come.

While developing the third season's storylines and scripts, Harjo, along with the producers and Taika Waititi, recognized that the season three finale would serve as the perfect series finale. Reflecting on the show's journey from conception to reality, Harjo expressed gratitude, saying, "When we first conceived the idea for Reservation Dogs, I never imagined it would actually be brought to life. Fortunately, it did."

The co-creator further expressed, "From the very beginning, our primary goal as Native individuals was to demonstrate to the world the humor and comedic brilliance inherent in Native culture. The majority of portrayals of Native people in television and film have been highly inaccurate and filled with untruths. It has been an invaluable opportunity for us to offer a fresh perspective on Indigenous people and their rich heritage. Above all else, it has been a lifelong ambition to collaborate on a show that is entirely shaped by, directed by, and features Native individuals. These narratives belong to us, and they serve as a representation of our community. We understand the immense responsibility that comes with this privilege, and we approach it with the utmost sincerity."

Reservation Dogs Co-Creator Thanks Fans, Cast & Crew

Reservation Dogs made its debut on FX on Hulu on August 9, 2021, capturing the lives of four Indigenous teenagers—Elora (Devery Jacobs), Bear (D'Pharaoh Woon-a-tai), Cheese (Lane Factor), and Willie (Paulina Alexis)—as they navigate rural Oklahoma, engaging in both criminal activities and the fight against it.

In an Instagram post, Harjo expressed his gratitude towards the exceptional cast, particularly Devery Jacobs, D'Pharaoh Woon-a-tai, Paulina Alexis, and Lane Factor, acknowledging them as the heart and soul of the Rez Dogs. He also extended his appreciation to everyone at FX and Hulu, the remarkable writers, directors, crew members, and the people of Okmulgee, Tulsa, and the Muscogee Nation, who played an integral role in the show's success.

Since its premiere, Reservation Dogs has garnered widespread critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including the prestigious Peabody Award in 2022. The third season of the series was greenlit by FX in September 2022, showcasing the continued support and enthusiasm from both the network and fans. Executive producers for Reservation Dogs include Harjo, co-creator Taika Waititi, and Garrett Basch, while FX Productions handles the show's production.

The highly anticipated third and final season of Reservation Dogs is set to premiere on August 2, exclusively on FX on Hulu. Audiences can look forward to a compelling culmination with a total of 10 episodes.
