Xbox Game Pass Is Removing 92-Rated Game From Library

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC will soon see the removal of several games from the subscription service. Among them is a highly acclaimed title with a Metacritic score of 92. Unfortunately, there is currently no information available regarding when the game will be reintroduced to the Xbox Game Pass library. Although games have been removed and later returned in the past, such instances are infrequent and typically involve popular titles that generate significant demand. Moreover, there is usually a substantial gap between the removal and subsequent reentry of a game.

Within the next two weeks, Xbox Game Pass will be bidding farewell to three games: Exo One, PAW Patrol The Movie: Adventure City Calls, and Spelunky 2. Of these, the most notable is PAW Patrol, and following closely is Spelunky 2, which holds a commendable Metacritic score of 92.

Released by Mossmouth as the highly anticipated sequel to 2008's Spelunky, Spelunky 2 arrived in 2020 and received varying Metacritic scores across different platforms. Its highest rating on Metacritic stands at 92, placing it among the highest-rated games of its release year.

An official description of the game states, "Spelunky 2 builds upon the unique, randomized challenges that made the original a roguelike classic, offering a huge adventure designed to satisfy players old and new. Meet the next generation of explorers as they find themselves on the Moon, searching for treasure and missing family."

While Exo One, PAW Patrol The Movie: Adventure City Calls, and Spelunky 2 are still accessible through Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, subscribers have the opportunity to purchase these games at a discounted price of 20% off, as long as they maintain an active subscription. This discount also extends to any downloadable content (DLC) associated with these games. However, once the games leave the subscription service, the discount will no longer be available.

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate are available for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC, each at different price points. The former is priced at $10 per month, while the latter is priced at $15 per month until July 6. After July 6, the prices will increase to $11 per month for Xbox Game Pass and $17 per month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, respectively.
