Prey Director Tapped for Stranger Things Season 5 Episode

Director Dan Trachtenberg, acclaimed for his work on the Predator prequel Prey and the thrilling film 10 Cloverfield Lane, is set to join the ranks of Stranger Things Season 5.

While the specific episode Trachtenberg will direct has not been disclosed by Netflix, his impressive track record makes him a natural choice for the role. In 2022, he revitalized the Predator franchise with Prey, a prequel that pitted the extraterrestrial hunter against a young Comanche warrior. Interestingly, a connection can be drawn here - Arnold Schwarzenegger, who starred in the original Predator film, famously pursued Linda Hamilton in The Terminator, and Hamilton herself recently joined the cast of Stranger Things Season 5.

The writing team of Stranger Things commenced their work on the show's fifth and final season in August 2022. A couple of months later, fans were given a tantalizing glimpse into the climactic conclusion of the Upside Down when the title of Season 5, Episode 1, was unveiled as "The Crawl," igniting speculation about its significance and implications. However, the true nature of this new eight-episode installment remains shrouded in mystery and subject to interpretation.

Stranger Things Creators Stand Behind the WGA Strike

Principal photography for Stranger Things Season 5 was originally scheduled to commence in May 2023. However, due to the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the project has been indefinitely delayed. Maya Hawke, who portrays Robin Buckley in the series, recently confirmed that the Duffer Brothers, the show's creators, fully support the WGA strike and will halt all writing activities until a resolution is reached.

Taking to Twitter, the Duffer Brothers expressed their solidarity with the striking writers, emphasizing the importance of the writing process throughout production. Hawke echoed this sentiment, expressing her optimism that the Duffer Brothers will secure a fair agreement, enabling them to conclude the series with the same passion, intensity, and excitement as previous seasons, despite the added pressure and specificity of bidding farewell.

With Stranger Things Season 5 on the horizon, speculation about the series' conclusion has been mounting. To prevent spoilers from leaking, the Duffer Brothers have maintained a strict policy of secrecy, withholding crucial details even from the cast. Finn Wolfhard, known for his portrayal of protagonist Mike Wheeler, disclosed that he remains unaware of how the story ultimately unfolds.

"I genuinely don't know how it ends yet," Wolfhard revealed. "I've only read the first three episodes, so we'll see. But I'm excited to see where the characters' journeys take them." The actor conveyed a mix of excitement and sadness about Stranger Things nearing its conclusion, acknowledging that while it will be an exhilarating experience to return to the set, bidding farewell will also evoke strong emotions.

All four existing seasons of Stranger Things are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
