One Piece Star Reveals What Playing Luffy Has Taught Him About Being Brave

Inaki Godoy, the actor portraying Monkey D. Luffy in the highly anticipated live-action television adaptation of One Piece, revealed that embodying the iconic manga character has imparted valuable lessons to him.

During the 2023 Netflix TUDUM event in Brazil, Inaki Godoy spoke to Collider about his connection to the role. "I believe I have a lot of Luffy within me," Godoy expressed. "I have always been an energetic person, full of life. I enjoy celebrating and indulging in food. In many ways, I truly feel akin to him. Moreover, I believe I can learn a great deal from him."

Godoy proceeded to share the insights he had gained from his portrayal of Luffy. "Unlike Luffy, I sometimes doubt myself and harbor insecurities. However, when I portray Luffy, I draw inspiration to become stronger and more courageous. Thus, there are many aspects of Luffy that I relate to, and there is much that I can learn from him," he added.

During TUDUM, Netflix premiered the first trailer for One Piece, offering fans a glimpse into the thrilling journey awaiting them. The trailer showcases Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, declaring his ambition to become the King of the Pirates, setting the stage for the enthralling adventures in the Grand Line. Additionally, viewers catch a glimpse of Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

The story follows the exploits of the outlawed Straw Hat Pirates as they navigate treacherous seas and perilous lands in their pursuit of the legendary "One Piece." This highly sought-after treasure holds the key to making their captain the King of the Pirates. Nonetheless, they face constant pursuit from the Navy and competition from rival crews. One Piece Episode Titles Revealed

In an exciting development, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has officially registered the titles of the first eight episodes of the upcoming One Piece live-action series. While these titles provide a glimpse into the content of the initial season, they differ slightly from a previous leak. The consistent titles include "Romance Dawn" and "Tell No Tales."

One Piece, adapted from Eiichiro Oda's ongoing manga series that began in 1997, has captivated fans worldwide. With a staggering collection of 105 published volumes, the written works have become a cultural phenomenon. The manga's immense success also spawned a beloved anime adaptation by Toei Animation in 1999. Now, the highly anticipated live-action series, developed for Netflix by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, is being brought to life.
